Route 320 is a cross-regional (formerly Metrobus) bus service operating between Gore Hill and Green Square.
History[]
Route M20 was introduced as the second Metrobus service in Sydney, initially running between Gore Hill and Mascot, on October 26, 2009. On February 27, 2011, the M20 was extended to Botany.
Around late 2018, the route was transfered to Transit Systems, which is controversial because almost the entire route 320 is outside the boundaries of Region 6 (the area Transit Systems is contracted to provide bus services for). On 9th February 2020, the route was renumbered route 320 as the Metrobus branding has been quitely dropped over the years and the M prefix has potential to cause confusion with metro services. At the same time, the route was cut back to its original terminus of Mascot.
As part of a network restructure in December 2021, it was further cut back to terminate at Green Square, with the remainder of the route now served by extra services on route 309.
Service[]
Route 320 operates between Gore Hill and Green Square via Pacific Highway, Sydney Harbour Bridge, York / Clarence Streets, Elizabeth / Chalmers St and Zetland.
Buses are provided by Leichhardt (L) and Tempe (T) depots. Before the takeover by Transit Systems, it was also operated by Port Botany (P) depot, with Ryde (Y) depot running the last 2 northbound trips.
Most trips are operated by Volvo B12BLEA Volgren CR228L 18m articulated buses. However as the Metrobus branding has been quietly dropped, more and more non-Metrobus liveried buses and 12m buses are appearing on Metrobus routes.
