The 436 is a bus route operated by Transit Systems as part of their contract to operate services in Region 6 (Inner West). The route operates between Rodd Point and the City (Central Station) via Haberfield Shops, Norton St Leichhardt, Leichhardt Marketplace and Parramatta Rd. Occasional trips extend north to Chiswick. It is part of the 43x series of routes, which connect various suburbs on the southern bank of the Parramatta River to the City.

This route is usually operated by buses from Leichhardt or Burwood depot.

History[]

Route 436 commenced on 23 November 1958, replacing a tram service between Fort Macquarie (now the site of the Opera House and no longer served by buses) and Haberfield. It ran between Fort Macquarie, Circular Quay or Millers Point and Haberfield. It was extended to Rodd Point in 1987 and Chiswick in 1990. On 4 October 2015, as part of the changes for light rail construction in the City, the route was curtailed to Belmore Park.

Route 436 will be discontinued on 24th October 2020 and replace by route 437 as part of the Inner west bus changes.
